CHEERLEADING lessons to help pupils keep fit and healthy are being offered at a school in St Albans.
The pupils of Margaret Wix primary school, along with other schools in the area, are being taught routines by the Saracens’ own cheerleading squad, the Saracens Sensations.
All years are taking part in the sessions, which are being led by Heidi Whinnett and will be offered for the next seven weeks. Pupils will then compete against other schools for a chance to perform at Wembley when Saracens play there.
Aimee Novell, PE co-ordinator, said it was a chance for students to engage with another media, regardless of their ability: “The children are really enjoying it, especially the boys, and there’s a bubbly atmosphere in the sessions. Heidi’s chosen music that the kids enjoy and they are really picking up the routines.”
