Parents and pupils at a St Albans school were showered in paint as part of a fundraising colour run.

More than 40 volunteers helped cover 140 runners in powder paint during the fun run at Samuel Ryder Academy on Saturday, June 30.

The run was the final event for the school’s ‘Pitch in 4 Pitches’ campaign, which aims to raise thousands of pounds for a 3G Astro Pitch. Deputy head teacher Ian Bailey set off the 3km run, with participants doused with paint at five different stations across the track.

PTA chair Michelle Miles said: “This was one of the most enjoyable PTA events to date. The Academy community came together to create a great atmosphere and everyone had a wonderful time taking on a family challenge that many had never experienced before. The Colour Fun Run will definitely feature in next year’s programme of events!”

The event also launched the school’s healthy living week.
