A St Albans school took part in a competition to come up with solutions to help people save water.
The ‘Challenge: Water’ initiative, created by Water Aid and Affinity Water, pits teams against each other to develop solutions addressing global water resource issues.
A team from Loreto College in St Albans took part, against teams from Simon Balle School in Hertford, Kings Langley School in Kings Langley, and Barnwell School in Stevenage, pitching their ideas to a panel of judges from across the water industry.
While Barnwell School were crowned winners, with Simon Balle coming second, all schools who took part can now apply for a ‘Silver CREST’ award, which is a British Science Association scheme that encourages pupils to build their skills in STEM subjects.
Affinity Water CEO Pauline Walsh said: “It is important to inspire young people to consider the range of opportunities that the water industry can offer.”
