St Albans pupils get a show of faith

STORIES from different religions were read by parents and local faith leaders during a multi-faith community event for children at two St Albans schools.
The event marked the end of National RE Month and pupils from Bernards Heath Infants and Maple Primary Schools came together to display their work and discuss what they had learned.
As well as the story-telling in a specially-designated tent, the Bernards Heath Infant drama group performed the Hindu Diwali story.
The children examined RE artefacts from the six major religions and the grandfather of one of the Bernards Heath children showed the youngsters how to write their name in Chinese characters.
There was a creative study of St Peter’s Church and some children from Maple had made videos showing how a range of religious ceremonies were celebrated.
Bernards Heath head, Mrs Gill Fenner, said: “I am delighted with the response to our first RE Festival at school. Bernards Heath and Maple worked closely together to ensure the event was of the highest quality. Parents were especially pleased to see firsthand what their children have been learning.”
