Fitness took precedence at a St Albans primary school recently, with pupils relishing the challenge of participating in a full range of activities from rock climbing to Gaelic football.

Sports week at St Bernadette Catholic Primary School saw children taking part in various activities including tennis and an obstacle course.

A spokeswoman said it was one of a number of events planned for the remainder of the school year.

Last week classes were drumming up money-making ideas or products to sell, with funds being raised for charity.

On July 4 the PTA is running an end-of-year summer ball at the Irish Centre in London Colney to raise money for the school.
