St Albans pupils asked to stay through their break to spend longer at a job fair with a crucial difference.
Heathlands School, which provides for deaf children, ran a job fair filled with company representatives who were deaf.
Teacher Nicola Jackson said: “We had a really amazing response from the pupils. They were so engaged and it was amazing for them to see deaf adults communicating with them.
“We have employers come in and speak by interpreter, but here the pupils were able to ask questions directly to the people involved.”
The fair featured a representative from EA Sports, T&B Contractors, a doctor, a seamstress, and an interactive artist who makes 3D videos.
Community police officers also came to talk about opportunities in the police.
Miss Jackson said: “I was not sure it was enough. But it was a perfect number because the pupils had time to speak to the people.”
