MOST school fairs have stalls and sideshows - but one had its own parents' band making its debut as well on Saturday.

Camp JMI School in St Albans marked the launch of Band Camp, a group of parents who got together to perform tracks such as I’m a Believer, Poker Face and Let It Be.

Band member Jason Sammon said: “It was great fun putting a band of parents together, especially considering we’ve all such varied tastes and experiences. The kids loved it and so did we. Mind you, we were very nervous beforehand.”

The band was followed on stage by Camp School Choir performing songs they had been practising ahead of their recent performance at the Royal Albert Hall.

The fair, which also received visits from local police and fire crews, raised a record-breaking £2,300 and head Louise Cornock commented: “The performances from both parents and pupils really added to the atmosphere at the fair. Camp School has a real community spirit and it was lovely to see so many people from the local area supporting the school.”
