A FAMILIAR FACE across Oaklands College campuses has been appointed principal.

Zoe Hancock has been confirmed as the new principal after taking up the interim position when Mark Dawe left in October 2010. Prior to that, Ms Hancock had been deputy principal since 2008 when she joined the college from The British Museum where she had been director of planning and projects.

Ms Hancock said she is thrilled to be taking on the role. “The college is such a vital part of our community and the community is at the heart of the college. I look forward to developing existing local relationships and creating new ones.

“I hope that I can bring fresh ideas and lots of enthusiasm to the role. I am keen to help our learners achieve their potential and take away important life skills from their college experience.”

Since taking on the role as interim principal, Ms Hancock has continued to oversee the improvement and development of new buildings and facilities across Welwyn Garden City and Smallford campuses, including new classrooms and sports pitches at Smallford, due to open in September this year.
