School site manager Dave Collenette has won a national award for his work - the first person in Herts to do so.

Dave, site manager at Skyswood Primary School in Chandlers Road, Marshalswick, was nominated for the National Site Manager of the Year Award by headteacher Bob Bridle, chair of governors, Catherine Borel-Saladin, and several pupils.

He took over the role last year and is the first site manager in the county to win the award.

Mr Bridle said that the school community was ‘absolutely delighted’ for him. He went on: “He takes real pride in his job and nothing is too much trouble. Mr Collenette has built a magnificent mud kitchen for our nursery, helps to run our environmental club, and has been instrumental in setting up a local network for caretakers and site managers.’

Dave travelled down to Bristol for the awards ceremony where he learned he had won first prize. He is already planning a number of projects for the future, including some creative ideas to improve the junior playground and a number of new initiatives to further develop the school’s environmental area.
