A QUIRKY new girl band dropped into a junior school to help them celebrate its annual arts festival.

Crabtree Juniors in Harpenden has been holding its Eisteddfod for 39 years and over three afternoons the pupils took to the stage to show off their talents in various categories.

More than 100 pupils took part in the performance days which included singing, gym and dance displays, instrumentals as well as martial arts and puppetry.

A large number of children also submitted display items in the form of paintings, drawings, photography, models, cakes and poems.

And as part of their schools tour, up and coming girl band The Scarletz, who have been hailed as a female Madness, performed at the school with their support act, boy band Red Lights One.

The band, whose debut single Messed Up is out at the end of March, also took questions from the children about the entertainment industry and the work you need to put in to become successful within it.
