A school’s television and radio clubs have been shortlisted not once, but twice, for major education awards.

Sandridge School Radio and TV Station was nominated for the Technology in Learning award and Community Champion award at the Community Education Awards, after beating off more than 7,000 competitors to make it to the shortlist.

The station’s leader Richard Sherwood said: “It’s nice for the pupils who are a part of radio and TV clubs to be rewarded in this way, and shows their hard work has been recognised supporting the community as well as their learning within the school.”

The station previously featured in the Herts Advertiser after making a film on road safety which was screened at the Sandpit Theatre.

“Having external bodies wanting to showcase our work is just amazing, and then to be informed of being shortlisted for two awards is just outstanding,” added Mr Sherwood.
