A new Hansel and Gretel style treehouse has been unveiled at a St Albans school.
The treehouse is the first step in Samuel Ryder Academy’s push to enhance its primary school playground.
With sections inspired by the passions of Samuel Ryder, the school hopes to add to the developing playground with a small allotment and miniature golf course.
The treehouse itself was created around one of the large oak trees in the school grounds and comprises a wood seating area based around the tree itself.
Lisa Davies, head of the academy’s primary section, said the treehouse was a “unique design for a unique school”.
Mayor of St Albans Cllr Geoff Harrison said: “I can see that the school’s gingerbread treehouse is going to be a very popular innovation and I am very pleased to perform its official opening.
“I hope it brings a great deal of fun to everyone who uses it.”
