PARENTS of children about to start at St Albans Girls School (STAGS) have heard the new head’s vision for the future.

Mrs Margaret Chapman, who has lived in St Albans for the past 20 years, will be succeeding Christine Murrell as head from September.

She spoke at the new Year Seven parents evening and told parents how impressed she had been when she first visited STAGS and the warm welcome she had received.

She added that the quality of teaching had been inspiring and her aim was to ensure that continued so that every student achieved their full potential not only through academic success but also by acquiring essential life skills.

Mrs Chapman, who is currently head of The Priory School in Hitchin, has been visiting the school regularly since her appointment at the end of last year and because of her association with St Albans, is particularly keen to build on the already established strong links with the local community.
