EDUCATION secretary Michael Gove visited the Herts Advertiser’s news room today to discuss a range of education issues and says creating more school places is his top priority.

Speaking exclusively to the paper, Mr Gove said establishing two new free schools in the District would increase parental choice and raise standards across the board.

He praised the high standards of schools in St Albans and visited the new Alban City School site on Hatfield Road, which he said promised to bring “a fresh vision” to education.

The Conservative MP also visited Francis Bacon School where he met students and the team behind the school which will become the Samuel Ryder Academy as of this September.

Keep checking the Herts Ad website over the weekend to read snippets of his interview.

An in-depth piece about his visit will be in next Thursday’s Herts Ad.
