In just over a month’s time, a group of talented young footballers from a St Albans school will travel to Everton FC’s Goodison Park to take on their counterparts in a national tournament.

But before that event kicks off, Marlborough Science Academy’s Under 13s Girls’ team will have a free coaching session with Watford FC’s community sports and education (CSE) trust.

The girls won the session after gaining first place at the Under 13 Girls Premier League Schools’ Tournament, where they beat Queens Academy in the final 2-1.

They will now go on to represent Watford FC at the national tournament, competing against other winning regional teams from all over the country.

Tournament organiser Ayesha Lorde-Dunn of Watford FC’s CSE trust said it was great to see the high standard set by the girls, and wished Marlborough “good luck at Goodison Park” for the national contest in May.
