ANXIOUS teenagers gathered at Marlborough School in St Albans today to collect their long-awaited A-level results.

Alongside individual successes, the school celebrated a higher percentage of A* and A grades than ever before. This contrasts to national trends which have seen the number of students achieving top grades falling for the second year in a row.

These excellent results see Marlborough students heading off to some of the country’s top universities including Exeter, Edinburgh, Nottingham and Sheffield.

The school also congratulated its year 12 pupils on their AS-level results.

Headteacher Ms Thomson commented: “As always we would like to thank parents and staff for all their hard work and support in encouraging success and wish all of our students’ great happiness and fulfilment as they move forward.”
