Children watched open-mouthed as this incredible gravity-defying cartwheel was performed by international gymnast Danny Lawrence when he visited their school.

The medal winning athlete was at Manland Primary School in Harpenden on Monday to talk about his career and wow a roomful of pupils with a floor display of somersaults, handstands and backflips.

During the morning Danny, who has represented Great Britain at the Commonwealth Games, also worked with all year groups as they took part in a series of sponsored exercises to raise money for new sports equipment.

Deputy headteacher David Lyness said: “The children were pretty stunned.

“They were amazed to have the opportunity to see an international athlete in such close quarters.”
