Four school pupils from Harpenden have taken their campaign to Make Schools Safe to the home of the Prime Minister.

Katie Sutton, Amelia Bird, Ellie Terry and Ruby Barwell from Sir John Lawes School visited 10 Downing Street on Monday.

Katie said: “We were given a quick overview of the building’s history by the Prime Minister’s adviser, with Churchill’s worn armchair sitting snug in the corner and Theresa May’s press team typing away along the landing.

“It was such a fantastic opportunity and makes me realise how lucky I am to have taken part in the Send My Friend To School Campaign - to be giving voice to the 246 million children experiencing violence a year, talking to important officials and making our case.

“Handing over the safety signs to the Prime Minister made me feel as if everything we’ve been working on since the launch of the campaign has the opportunity to make an impact.”
