A feeling of delight spread among the students of Sir John Lawes School this morning after they opened their GCSE results.
Twenty students obtained more than nine A* and A grades, with the school set to welcome more sixth form students than ever before.
Head of Year 11, Rikki Howard, said: “There are some absolutely brilliant results here with students achieving really top grades.
“They’ve worked incredibly hard as a year group so it’s great to see their efforts rewarded.”
Head of sixth form, Cait Rickard, added: “We’ve been joking for ages about putting a 2nd floor onto the 6th form block – maybe now is the time!”
