AUTHOR Michael Morpurgo regaled pupils, staff and parents with reminiscences of his time at prep school when he was guest of honour at a speech day.
The teacher-turned-prizewinning-author told stories of his own schooldays and gave tips on how to become a good storyteller at Beechwood Park School in Markyate.
The St Albans-born former Children’s Laureate – who was known by the nickname Pongo during his schooldays – later presented prizes and took the opportunity to talk to the award-winners.
Head Patrick Atkinson commented: “Michael Morpurgo’s visit to Beechwood Park will linger long in the memories of all those privileged to have witnessed it. He was very entertaining indeed.”
