INNOVATIVE artwork designed by students from a college in St Albans will be on show this week at an exhibition in the town centre.
The “It Ain’t Rubbish” exhibition opened today (Monday) and showcases fashion, sculpture, painting and graphics designed by students at Oaklands College around the theme of sustainability and caring for the environment.
Open from 10am-4pm, the exhibition in the Town Hall will feature a dress made out of a thousand Tesco bags which has already been displayed in the town centre and attracted significant public attention.
On Wednesday, some of the unique dresses designed by the students will be displayed at a fashion show outside of the Town Hall at 1pm.
Cllr Melvyn Teare, sponsor of the exhibition, said: “It’s really important to get young people thinking about the issue of sustainability and preserving our environment for future generations. I also wanted their work and ideas to be given a wider audience because it’s an issue that affects everyone.”
