Townsend School began the week with a talk from ex-England footballer, Luther Blissett, who now works as an ambassador for the charity, Show Racism the Red Card.

Luther talked to Year 7s, 8s and 9s about his experiences with racism, both in and out of football, and offered advice to students on how to deal with mistreatment and bullying.

Then Mitchell Camp and Georgina Maton, who both won gold medals as the 2013 Special Olympics, visited the school and spoke to Year 10s, 11s 12s and 13s about their experiences with disability and athletic success.

The school also held a student-vs-teacher anti-bullying bake-off in which competitors could produce anything anti-bullying related; one team baked a rainbow-coloured cake.

Other events hosted during the week included a screening of the film Pride and a ‘compliments day’ - during which students completed compliment cards to promote good-feeling and well-being.
