Walking to school with a dinosaur is not an everyday occurence but children at a St Albans primary school took it in their stride.
Buster the dinosaur joined youngsters from the Samuel Ryder Academy (SRA) to mark the school’s commitment to the Walking Bus scheme.
Buster was accompanied by Katie Goldthorpe from the county council’s safe and sustainable journeys to school team who brought Buster along to walk with the children and talk to an assembly for parents so that they could find out more about the scheme.
During the assembly Buster handed out stickers and pens to the children who have been using the walking bus and certificates for passenger of the week.
The walking bus is led by volunteers who are trained by the county council. It helps to reduce congestion outside the school gate and enables children to develop road safety awareness as well as leading to improved health, fitness and wellbeing.
