THE NEW primary school in St Albans city centre has been given the go-ahead by the Department for Education (DfE).
Alban City School, which will be located on Hatfield Road in the former University of Hertfordshire’s School of Law, was one of 79 new, state-funded schools approved by the DfE.
The school had made it through to phase two of the free school application process and moved into pre-opening stage after yesterday’s announcement.
The proposers behind the school, which could open as early as next September, are educationalists and local parents. Former Aboyne Lodge headteacher, Linda Crawley, is leading the project.
