Sixth formers have chatted about relations between the United Kingdom and the United States with America’s ambassador to the UK, Matthew Barzun.
Paul Ramsey, headmaster of Verulam School in Brampton Road, St Albans, said: “It was a great honour to welcome the ambassador, and it is most impressive that he is listening to the views of young people, who he described as the future leaders of our country.”
Matthew was at Verulam School last Wednesday (16) as part of a programme of visits to schools, where he talks to sixth form students about US/UK relations and follows President Obama’s key advice to an ambassador – to listen.
He asked students what frustrated, concerned or confused them about his homeland, as well as what they liked about American culture and what ideas had inspired them.
