An Oaklands College student from St Albans is “over the moon” with her A-Level results which have helped her secure a place at Birmingham University - her first choice.
After months of revising, hard work and studying, A-Level students yesterday (Thursday) gathered at Oaklands’ Smallford Campus, Hatfield Road, to collect their results.
Principal Zoe Hancock said that students are celebrating after recording success with 100 per cent achievement this year across the wide range of 20 subject offers.
She said this was made even more impressive with the fact that there were 244 entries from the A-Level department, which is growing increasingly popular among teenagers.
Particularly strong subjects included: art and design, media studies, history, economics, sociology, citizenship studies and law, all of which achieved high grade percentages well above national averages.
Zoe said: “I’d like to congratulate all our students on their successes. They have worked really hard this year and their achievements are well deserved. I wish them all every success in the future, whatever they choose to do.”
One of the many successful pupils, Zoe Oliver, 18, achieved two As in law and geography and a B in Maths.
She said: “I’m over the moon with my results and I’m so excited. I’m going to my first choice university which is Birmingham. It’s been a different style of teaching at college compared to school and I have had a great time at Oaklands.”
