HEAD boys and girls from the three Harpenden secondary schools came together to compere a service in recognition of Peace Day recently.
Local primary schools were also involved and invited to participate and perform a reading, drama or piece of music relating to the theme of peace at the service in the High Street Methodist Church.
In addition, primary schoolchildren were invited to enter an art competition sponsored by the Harpenden United Nations Association on the theme What Does Peace Mean to Me?, including year 5 Grove Junior pupil Aimee (pictured).
The service coincided with a two-week visit by staff and pupils from Sir John Lawes partner school in Zambia, Ndeke High School.
The Zambian students went along to perform a poem they had written about peace and later visited some of the town’s primary schools.
