ENTERPRISING pupils at a St Albans primary school demonstrated how to put their literary skills to good use at its annual Christmas fair.
Children from Year Six at Camp nursery and primary school have been creating and writing their own stories this term, covering a range of subjects from horror to romance.
They decided they wanted their stories to be read by a wider audience and saw a chance to make some money for the school and charity at the same time.
So they spent their lunch breaks and half term holiday preparing books for sale at their Christmas fair earlier this month.
One of the team, Oliver Hobbs, said: “We wanted to make sure that as many people as possible could purchase the books so we approached the school PA and asked if we could have a stall at the Christmas fair.
“We even managed to sneak in an advert during our class assembly.”
On the day of the fair, which raised just over 2,500 in total, the team sold 50 books for 1 each making 25 each for the school and for Children in Need.
Head Louise Cornock said: “We are incredibly proud of the boys who have come up with the idea and have worked incredibly hard in their own time as well as juggling their commitments to the school football team and homework.”
