STUDENTS experienced first-hand what is necessary to succeed in journalism and PR when Herts Advertiser editor, Matt Adams, visited St Albans Girls’ School (STAGS) to deliver careers advice.
Twenty-five members of the sixth form studying business and media studies attended the talk.
Areas such as advertising, PR and journalism were covered, with Matt providing an insight into the world of journalism and what is required to succeed in the industry. One student who attended the talk said: “This is the time when life-changing decisions will be made, I found the talk very useful and informative.”
Students learned first-hand how a newspaper is run and what potential employers look for.
Margaret Chapman, head teacher of STAGS, said: “I would like to thank Matt Adams for finding time in his very busy working day to talk to our students. It is this type of input from professionals, from all fields of work, that makes careers education authentic, focused and relevant to the needs of students.”
