Close to £3 million is being invested in the expansion of a St Albans primary school to meet the growing need for more places.
At a meeting last Thursday, Herts county council’s development control committee granted permission for new classrooms, an activity block and multi-use games area at Prae Wood JMI in King Harry Lane.
The number of reception places will be 60 from September 2016 as Prae Wood changes permanently to two forms of entry.
The proposal for a new two storey classroom block had attracted objections from the district council, and some residents.
Prae Wood’s expansion will be funded by £2.8 million of capital investment from the county council.
