Children from a St Albans primary school teamed up with Verulamium Museum as part of a national museum takeover day.
Fifteen Mandeville Primary School pupils from Year 6, led by class teacher and Latin co-ordinator Lauren Berry, visited the museum for workshops before the takeover day. With the help of Eleanor Payne, the museum’s learning and interpretation officer, the pupils spent six weeks planning Latin-based activities.
On the day itself, all the Year 4 children from Mandeville attended, along with the deputy mayor of St Albans, to enjoy the activities organised by the Year 6 pupils.
Lauren Berry said: “I am extremely proud of the enthusiasm and maturity shown by all the children involved. This has been a wonderful project to be involved with.”
Eleanor Payne also praised the pupils for their kindness to each other and the “amazing ideas” they shared.
