Young singers delighted an audience at the Royal Albert Hall with their performance inspired by an ancient Greek tragedy.
A choir from How Wood School, along with the Hertfordshire Schools’ Symphony Orchestra, performed a song inspired by the tale of Icarus at the Hertfordshire Schools’ Gala 2018.
In the story, Icarus flies too close to the sun while wearing fake wings and falls to his death.
The children sung a song called If I had Wings, while author Michael Rosen narrated the story.
Teacher Emma Reed, along with headteacher Cynthia Rowe, organise the choir - which is for Years 3 to 6.
Emma said: “The performance was amazing and it was such an incredible opportunity for the children to perform at such a prestigious venue.
“We were so proud of the children, they sang their hearts out.”
The choir also performed at the Alban Arena alongside 20 other primaries as part of The St Albans Primary Schools Music Association Music Festival.
