A touring art exhibition from the University of Hertfordshire is set to appear at the St Albans Museum + Gallery.
The Hayward Gallery ‘Hand Drawn Action Packed’ exhibition brings together 10 international artists who use drawing as their main practice, and will launch at the St Albans Museum + Gallery on Sunday, September 2.
Three of the artists have created new work specially for the exhibition, including Marcel van Eeden, from the Netherlands, with a series of 28 film noir-style drawings inspired by a 1936 newspaper report of a body found in a ditch on the outskirts of St Albans. The work of Otobong Ngkana, from Nigeria, visualises humanity’s relationship with the earth’s resources in a series of watercolours, and Rinus Van de Velde, from Belgium, has made two large charcoal drawings depicting an imaginary artist.
After launching in St Albans, the exhibition will go on to tour in Wolverhampton, Glasgow and Swansea.
