DON’T miss your chance to catch a glimpse of the original 1215 Magna Carta which is on display in St Albans Abbey for two more weeks.
Around 5,000 people have already booked tickets to see the historic document that was transported from Lincoln Cathedral to the city on August 1.
The once-in-a-lifetime opportunity includes an exhibition explaining the importance of the Abbey in the Magna Carta story.
Sub Dean Richard Watson said: “We have been amazed by the numbers of people coming to see Magna Carta, but it is encouraging that so many recognise the importance of this document and want to make the most of this wonderful opportunity to see it in the place where it all began 800 years ago.”
Children have also been flocking to special Magna Carta workshops, which are aimed at seven to 11 year olds and include a range of activities including recreating part of the iconic document using medieval techniques. These have so far been a sell-out success and only a few tickets remain for the August 20 and 27 sessions.
