Residents are being advised to be vigilant after the circulation of a scam lottery letter around St Albans.
The letter states that the recipient has won a large sum from the Euromillions People’s International Postcode Lottery Programme. It then claims that in order to collect their winnings, they should ring a number to receive the money.
A spokesperson for Herts Police, said: “Police advice to anyone who believes they have received what they believe to be a ‘scam’ letter either asking for money or telling them they have won money - is to report it to the police on 101.”
