LEGS of all shapes and sizes were brought into use when the Rotary Club of St Albans Priory held its first Walkies in the Woods on Sunday.
Over 50 walkers and 30 dogs walked the three-mile route through Nomansland and then around part of the New Heartwood Forest in Sandridge.
Three charities benefitted from the walk - Grove House, Youth Talk and Dogs for the Disabled - and they all had stands at the registration tent.
Liz Hizli, community fundraiser for Grove House, said: "My dog Jack and I thoroughly enjoyed the walk. It was very well organised and the competition of guessing the dog breeds was good fun.
"It was a great family morning out and lovely to see so many children taking part. I can't wait for the next one. I would like to thank Karen Mullinex, Penny Verity and all the other Rotarians who helped organise such a successful event."
The event was also supported by the Woodland Trust and St Albans district council.
