Dog walker assaulted along disused Wheathampstead railway line

WHEATHAMPSTEAD: A woman walking her dog along a disused railway line was assaulted and suffered minor injuries on Saturday morning.

At around 9.30am the woman was walking along the Ayot Greenway close to Wheathampstead when she was approached from behind by a white man who assaulted her.

She was walking in the Welwyn direction when the attack occurred.

Det Con Ian Aldridge who is investigating the assault said that foot patrols had been stepped up in light of the incident and police were doing everything they could to find the man responsible. He urged anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything to contact him on the non emergency number 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
