Trains through St Albans are being cancelled or delayed after an unknown object struck a service earlier today.
A large metallic item hit the 1.18pm service from Luton to Rainham between Luton and St Albans, causing knock-on disruption throughout the afternoon to other trains along the line.
For example, a Kentish Town train was also brought to a standstill.
All lines have only just reopened but there are still delays of 15 minutes expected until about 6.30pm.
