BLUEBELL time is approaching with the onset of Spring and the native flowers will be among the highlights on next month's Lions Walk in aid of Grove House.

The guided walk, which takes place on Sunday, April 25, offers a choice of four distances - three, seven, 13 or 18 miles - along the pathways of Herts and the newly-planted Heartwood Forest at Sandridge.

The forest, which is being planted by the Woodland Trust, boasts 45 acres of ancient woodland and is home to many rare butterflies and the protected English bluebell. It will eventually be an 850-acre area of beautiful, broadleaved woodland.

Lion Willie Martin said: "This is a great opportunity to walk through our wonderful local woodland areas and support Grove House. The St Albans Lions Club are proud to be able to continue and support the hospice - Grove House provides more than 9,000 free treatments and consultations each year to people faced with life-threatening illness.

"We hope that a record number of people will register for the walk this year to help us raise as much money as possible for Grove House. We can supply sponsor forms or entrants can very easily create their own personalised online sponsorship page by visiting www.justgiving.com/grove-house."

The walks all finish at Nicholas Breakspear School in Colney Heath Lane where walkers will receive a hot meal.

Registration for the walk is 7.50 and to do so phone Lion Willie Martin on 01727 760904 or willie@havisham.co.uk or contact the Grove House events team on 01727 731002. A registration form can also be downloaded from www.grove-house.org
