Thameslink commuters are being warned to expect delays of up to 35 minutes between London St Pancras and St Albans due to an earlier problem at West Hampstead.

A spokesman for Govia Thameslink confirmed that a technical problem at West Hampstead between 2.40pm and 3.45pm is causing disruption that is expected to last until at least 5.15pm.

He said: “There are two southbound lines running between that station, fast and slow, and there was a problem on the slow line, which meant that the majority of trains had to be fast-tracked from Radlett.

“It caused a lot of congestion and this has meant there is still disruption on the line with delays of up to 35 minutes.”

He advised commuters heading towards St Albans can alternatively travel from London King’s Cross to Hatfield and take the bus from there.
