Repair and improvement work on the access road to the Heartwood Forest car park has run over schedule.
It means that the car park serving the newly-planted Woodland Trust forest in Sandridge will now be closed until September.
Visitors are being urged to use the public car park in Sandridge or the Nomansland Common car park in Wheathampstead to access the forest until its own car park reopens.
Woodland Trust site manager, Louise Neicho, said: “Thank you for bearing with us.”
