CURRYS has become the latest retailer to bite the dust in St Albans after it stopped trading last week.
The decision to close the electrical store, in Griffiths Way, Holywell Park, was taken as part of the company’s ongoing portfolio review.
There have been no redundancies as all staff members were given the opportunity to be transferred to other nearby branches.
A spokesperson for Currys said: “We are predominantly out of town these days and it is not a knee jerk to financial difficulty, it is a long-term strategic plan.
“The lease has come to its end and rather than renew it we have decided to close it down.”
