A THRILLING author stopped off at a book store in St Albans to sign copies of his latest novel.
Crime writer John Connolly, who is best known for his series of novels starring private detective Charlie Parker, was the guest of honour at Waterstone’s on May 14.
Around 50 fans flocked to the St Peter’s Street store to see John, who signed copies of his latest Charlie Parker book, The Whisperers, which tells the story of a group of disenchanted former soldiers involved in a smuggling operation.
Store manager Sean Farrell, who has been at Waterstone’s for two and a half years, said that John was a very popular guest: “Even some of my staff were going crazy for him and Inez, who works on the tills, rushed home and came back with a huge stack of Connolly books for him to sign! It was a very busy day and I understand that it was the most successful book signing John had in this region.”
To celebrate the St Albans Festival, Waterstone’s will play host to a range of authors and broadcasters next month, including BBC Radio 4’s Melvyn Bragg, science fiction author Iain Banks and even the Fat Controller in aid of Thomas the Tank Engine Day.
