A charity cricket tournament is being held in memory of a former St Albans schoolboy.

The six-a-side trophy competition will take place on August 30 at Hatfield Hyde Cricket Club in memory of former Verulam pupil Oliver Mills, who died in 2004 aged 18 from a brain tumour.

The competition, sponsored by local company Just Energy Solutions, is looking to add to the total they have previously raised for the Teenage Cancer Trust, which so far stands at more than £15,000.

Eight teams have confirmed to compete for the trophy this year, including the ‘Green Army’ which is captained by Oliver’s great friend, Stevie O’Boy.

Alongside the cricket, there will be a host of family themed entertainment including a bouncy castle, a cake stall, live music from local guitarist Sam Lewis and a BBQ.
