A DRIVER made a "miraculous" recovery from an accident when he was told that firefighters might need to cut away the roof of his car to free him.
Two Volkswagens had collided on the forecourt of the Morrisons petrol station in Hatfield Road, St Albans, at about 3.45pm on Saturday afternoon.
When police arrived, one of the drivers who was in a black Polo complained of back injuries. He was warned that the roof of his car might need to be cut off when firefighters arrived and he promptly got out of his vehicle.
He was found to have a Stanley knife on him and police arrested him on suspicion of possessing a blade in public but he has not been charged.
The driver of the other car, a blue Golf, was uninjured in the incident.
