Three men in balaclavas robbed a supermarket last night (Wednesday).

The men forced their way into Sainsbury’s in Everard Close, St Albans, at about 11.30pm via the staff entrance.

One of the men made verbal threats to staff before smashing a freezer door with what is believed to be a metal bar.

Meanwhile, two men forced open several tills and stole cash.

The three men then left the store and crossed over the train tracks before getting into a vehicle which was parked by the garages behind Leyland Avenue.

No one was injured during the incident.

Investigations are continuing and anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact police on the non-emergency number 101.
