A CITY-centre theatre is to be taken back into St Albans District Council control. The Maltings Arts Theatre, next to the Central Library in the Maltings shopping centre, has been run by Leisure Connection as part of the district's leisure contract. But now it is understood the council has decided to take back the operation of the centre because of legal difficulties involving its lease. This week no-one at the council would comment but it is thought that it is setting up its own team to manage the theatre.
