A St Albans homeless charity is seeking volunteers for its Winter Beds Project.

Open Door sheltered 12 homeless people last year, but nearly 20 were recorded sleeping rough by St Albans council.

This year, the charity has partnered with City Centre Churches to start the Winter Beds Project and provide shelter for local homeless.

Open Door’s founder Kerry Pollard said: “We’re really pleased and looking forward to working with volunteers from the City Centre Churches community to provide these additional beds.”

The project will run from January to March, and volunteers have been asked to come forward.

They will be welcoming guests, supervising overnight, preparing breakfast, setting up and clearing up, and doing laundry and administration.
