Cottonmill crossing users have been invited to meet Network Rail to find out more about their proposals to close the crossing.

The public body has been working with St Albans council and Herts county council on alternatives to the crossing, after concerns about people misusing it.

A Network Rail spokesperson said: “Cottonmill Lane level crossing has unacceptable incidents of deliberate misuse. Our priority will always be the safety of those who use it. We continue to work with Hertfordshire County Council and St Albans City and District Council to find an alternative to a level crossing at this location.”

The event will take place on Tuesday, September 11 between 4pm and 7pm at St Julian’s Church Hall on Abbots Avenue in St Albans.
