Two companies have resolved their grievances by teaming up to provide a £500 donation to Heartwood Forest.

Aldwyck Housing Group and Whitbread PC, two Houghton-Regis based companies, will supply 33 new trees to the St Albans woodland.

They decided to make the donation after Aldwyck agreed to remove a silver birch tree from their premises which, when in full bloom, would block neighbouring Whitbread’s newly-installed CCTV system. The joint contribution of £500 is the equivalent cost of a replacement tree.

Aldwyck Housing Group chose to donate the trees to the Heartwood Forest Appeal in St Albans.

Whitbread estates director Simon Hobbs said: “At Whitbread we aim to be a force for good in all the communities where we operate and are committed to growing and operating our business in an environmentally and sustainable way. We are delighted to be able to make this donation to the Woodland Trust and support such a worthy local community project.”
